Mayor Lenny Curry announced that parks and beaches throughout Duval County will reopen Friday, April 17, 2020 at 5 p.m. and close at 8.pm keeping restrictions for social distancing and essential activities only. Governor Ron DeSantis had defined essential activities as walking, biking, hiking, fishing, running, swimming, taking care of pets and surfing while practicing social distancing.
No sunbathing, towels, blankets, chairs, coolers, grills, or the like will be permitted on Duval County beaches during the restricted hours the beach will be open.
Mayor Lenny Curry said “This can be the beginning of the pathway back to normal life. Please respect and follow these limitations.” Beaches will be open from 6am to 11am each morning and from 5pm to 8pm each evening.
